Cabot police make Christmas shopping safer

CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - Officers with the Cabot Police Department are doing their best to make shopping during the holidays safer for families.

On December 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cabot Wal-Mart, Cabot police will be taking part in the 4th annual Christmas charity event, C.O.P.S Toy Patrol.

C.O.P.S (Cabot Officers Playing Santa) is a program that has officers in the area to stand alongside young boys and girls while they shop for holiday gifts.

Organizers were hoping to have a child from each of the nine elementary schools in the Cabot School District to participate in this program, and they had set a goal to raise $4,000 dollars for the program. With the help from several businesses and citizens of Cabot, the program has surpassed its goal and will be able to help out 45 children from the nine elementary schools in the Cabot School District.

On Thursday, December 17, Cabot Police Officers will help shop one-on-one with these children.
