Renewal Ranch "Rally for Recovery"

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Conway non-profit organization, Renewal Ranch, is hosting a 'Rally for Recovery' event inviting the community to stand against what addiction can do to our society and families. 

On Friday, May 22 crowds of people will join together at the Conway Expo Center to join the fight against addiction and drug and alcohol abuse.

Rehabilitation facility Renewal Ranch is a faith based organization for adult men 21 years of age or older and is located at 75 Lake Drive in Houston, Ark. The organization includes 15 different pastors and teachers from all over central Arkansas who teach these men about the damage of addiction.

Tickets are being sold for $20 at the North Branch of First Security Bank and the Central Baptist Church in Conway. Patron tables, which include six tickets, are for sale at $250.  There will be catfish and other foods being served.

Benton PD needs help locating runaway teen

BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - The Benton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a 17-year-old who ran away from his home Thursday, April 23.

Christopher Bennett left his home Thursday, and according to reports, has not been seen from his parents since. 

Bennett is described as being a white male standing at approximately 5'6" tall and weighing at around 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to still be in the central Arkansas area. 

Police stated that any person who knowingly harbors a runaway could face charges. 

Anyone with information about Bennett's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171 or (501) 315-TIPS.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - On Thursday, April 16, the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce will premier Business After Hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub off 201 East Broadway.

Workshop promotes responsible interactions with law enforcement

CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) - The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach and Community Engagement will host a free workshop, titled RESPOND-I-BILITY, that will address ways individuals should respond when encountering law enforcement officers.

The workshop will be held in the UCA Student Center, Room 213, from 5:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9. The public is invited to this free workshop.

Author and historian Edmond Davis will facilitate RESPOND-I-BILITY. The vision of RESPOND-I-BILITY is to raise awareness and show how each citizen (“I”) has the ability to respond responsibly when engaging with all officers of the law. The presentation is designed to address cultural and social etiquette skills for all Americans when encountering officers of the law.

Austin officer receives recognition

AUSTIN, Ark. (KTHV) -  Officer Kyle Matthews was recognized for his 20 years of service with the Austin Police Department Monday. 

Chief James Kulesa with Austin police awared Matthews with a plaque of recognition. 

The mayor, Bernie Chamberlain, and members of the City Council were present. 

Chief Jim Kulesa stated, "His actions reflect his commitment to serving others."

Officer Matthews served the department as a part-time officer in addition to having full time employment.

Jacksonville museum to celebrate Vietnam Veterans Day

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Museum of Military History will host a "Welcome Home" event to remember and honor Vietnam veterans Saturday, April 11. 

On May 25, 2012, President Barack Obama declared May 28, 2012 through November 11, 2025 as the 'Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.' 

The museum will be open at no charge to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 11. There will be several exhibits on display at the event. There will also be live music and a showing of the new documentary "The Last days in Vietnam" presented by AETN.

Ward man who escaped custody arrested

Ward man who escaped custody arrested

CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - AUSTIN, Ark. (KTHV) - A Ward man who escaped police custody Thursday morning was arrested Saturday.

Stephen Thomas Pilgreen, 27, was first taken into custody after admitting to taking items from a Dollar General Store in Austin. Pilgreen escaped from the police and ran into a nearby wooded area adjacent to Highway 367.
