Cabot Schools first student designed, built theatre set

CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - Students in Cabot are taking a step away from the books to put their hands to work on a new stage for the schools to use for upcoming plays.

The students have drafted original floor plans and renderings that have led them to a final design, which they digitally drafted in Google Sketch Up. Teams were assigned certain jobs so that the stage could be set by deadline.

According to school officials, the students have cut every board, primed every surface, turned plywood into hardwood with faux painting techniques, and even built a tree out of branches and 2x4s. One particular student, who took the lead on the design and drafting, will be presenting the finished product at Arkansas Thespians in February to compete for scholarships.
