Cabot inspiring others to be active

CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - The Cabot community is encouraging people to get outside and be active through their 2015 Inspiration Run. 

The Inspiration Run is taking place on Friday, October 9 beginning at 8:15 a.m. at Ward Central Elementary. Those involved will travel a total of 26 miles by feet and bicycle, visiting 14 Cabot schools with students cheering them along the way. The finish line will be at Magness Creek Elementary. 

The run partners with the Cabot School District and the Cabot Country Cruisers.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - On Thursday, April 16, the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce will premier Business After Hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub off 201 East Broadway.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Bridge repairs will require lane closures on U.S. Highway 67 in Jacksonville, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be repairing the railing on the Vandenberg Blvd. overpass (LRAFB) in Jacksonville. The work will require closing the northbound inside lane between mile markers 10 and 11 on U.S. Highway 67.

The lane closures will be Tuesday, August 26th through Thursday, August 28th, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Installation of a truck weight sensor will require lane closures on Interstate 40 in Lonoke County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be installing the truck weight sensors between the Lilly Road overpass and the Northcutt Road overpass, east of Lonoke. The work will require closing individual eastbound and westbound lanes between mile markers 177 and 179, weather permitting.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - For years, we've seen public service announcements about texting while driving, but are people really getting the message? One student says, "I mean they're sad. You know, it's emotional. I just feel I've seen so many that you think it just won't happen."

THV11 News sat down with six teenage students at Sylvan High School in Sherwood, Arkansas. They admit, texting and driving is a big temptation for teenagers like themselves. "I don't do it all the time but sometimes I do text and drive and I admit that it is dangerous," Antonius Russell says.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 71 percent of teens and young people say they have sent text messages while driving and 78 percent of them have read a text message while driving.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Bridge repairs will require lane closures on U.S. Highway 67 in Jacksonville, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be repairing the Redmond Road overpass in Jacksonville. The repairs are needed following a recent traffic accident. The work will require closing the northbound outside lane on U.S. Highway 67, between mile markers 6 and 9.

The lane closures will be Monday, April 14th through Thursday, April 17th, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Improvements to Interstate 40 require a lane closure in Lonoke County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be performing work on a median crossing. The work will require closing the Interstate 40 eastbound inside lane between mile markers 177 and 178, east of Lonoke.

The lane closures will be Monday, April 7th through Thursday, April 10th, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
